SophieHadifz promotional tone editing: block evasion?[edit]

I noticed that you indefinitely blocked SophieHadifz on April 29th 2024 for 'Using Wikipedia for promotion or advertising purposes'. I have been attempting to make good faith improvements to a page that this user created Craig Considine that was(/is?) highly promotional in tone, and I continue to have to address edits by unregistered IP users that are repeatedly inserting promotion/advertising into the article. Quite honestly, I am unconvinced by this article's notability and am considering submitting to AfD. I am uncertain whether this is the article's subject or SophieHadifz, but either way the results are the same. I wanted to call this to your attention because it may be block evasion from an account that you blocked. Please could you advise how to move forwards with this? For now, I have requested protection on the article. Thank you! Boredintheevening (talk) 10:24, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Favonian thankfully added protection to that page so hopefully this properly tackles the inappropriately promotional editing. --Yamla (talk) 11:30, 27 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I am curious, two edits on AfDs for a new user, is this not suggestive of a possible sock? Should it be checked out? Regards Govvy (talk) 10:34, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There's not much to go on there yet. It certainly is unusual for a new editor to find their way to AfDs, though. --Yamla (talk) 11:24, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock[edit]

My Account (Caxwax) is not directly blocked but the IP address is blocked. I'm unable to edit or create Draft articles. I'm also unable to edit my Wikipedia User Page. My IP address is blocked so I'm also unable to edit my talk page and to post the Unblock request. I didn't use any Proxy or VPN. I'm using my Mobile Data Internet connection. When i click on edit tab, the notification said that ask for IP Block Excemption. Please unblock my account IP.

Thank you Caxwax (talk) 12:00, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

As I have previously told you, I'm unwilling to grant you WP:IPBE and I've explained why. Additionally, your IP address is not currently blocked as you are able to edit this page. --Yamla (talk) 12:02, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The Page was Expired and the I did not see the reason. I'm explaining that I'm can edit others Talk page and Articles in the Main Space. I'm unable or not able to edit my own talk page, draft creation and to edit draft articles. Please explained here that why you can't give me WP:IPBE. Thanks Caxwax (talk) 12:37, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The IP address range you are occasionally using is blocked for making exactly the same sort of edits as you are making with this account. You are free to request IPBE from another admin, but this is my final word. --Yamla (talk) 12:42, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

LB&SCR E2[edit]

Thanks for blocking him. Funnily enough, I'm pretty sure he is being truthful that he's not related to Aecws. I'm fairly confident he's actually the community-banned Australian railroad IP (which matches his insistence that he's from Australia). In any case, Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/LB&SCR E2 can be closed now, it's currently still open (I imagine you blocked the account independently of the SPI). Trainsandotherthings (talk) 15:05, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oops, I saw you just reviewed the unblock, and Bbb23 did the initial block. I checked his contributions on the locomotive fandom wiki and they directly match creations by the Australian railroad IP so I'm now fully confident that's who we're dealing with here. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 15:12, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
While I cannot comment on CU findings (and you aren't asking me to), this does indeed track. They've self-disclosed they are editing from Australia and based on behaviour, this sounds like a close match to that. Thanks! --Yamla (talk) 15:39, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Bbb23 closed the SPI, so we're all done for now. I doubt we've seen the last of him, but I'll keep my eyes open. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 16:18, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
