Legal Basis for MNF Involvement in Lebanon?[edit]

Could someone add information on the stated legal basis the MNF used for involvement in Lebanon to begin with (I know the article vaguely refers to the mission objective of assisting in withdrawing the PLO). More, and detailed info would be enlightening. Also, what were the stated legal reasons the MNF continued its involvement in Lebanon after the PLO had already withdrawn? This still seems to be missing. The only statement quoted for the mission is a US press release. In addition, the article does not clarify any "international" justification for this joint invasion force. Was there a United Nations resolution? If that is not the case, it should be made clear that this was simply a military incursion by 4 foreign countries to "prevent foreign incursion", an obvious cntradiction in terms. There was no UN resolution supportingt the mission. By the way, someone inserted the following statement: "The mission of the multinational force was to ensure the withdrawal of all foreign forces; aid, support and train the Lebanese Armed Forces to restore the sovereignty of the Lebanese Government at the request of the latter in Beirut and the promotion of national unity and reconciliation, along with strengthening all national institutions, including the army.^[1]" When you look at the source, a U.S. State Department bulleting after the assassination of Bechir Gemayel, it actually describes these goals as the goals of the Lebanese government, not the goals of the MNF. The goal of the MNF was certainly not the removal of all foreign forces (Israeli and Syrian) from Lebanon, and its goal was clearly not the strengthening of all Lebaneses national institutions. Bad Information regarding Argov assassination[edit]

I have issues with this short piece of text. 1) The PLO did not assassinate Shlomo_Argov, as correctly reflected in the Argov article; 2) nor does the cited source support the text.
