Meta bans users who post images of relevant art
Meta bans users who post images of relevant art, and it's been very strict lately. Meta does not take into account how carefully the images are selected, curated and described. Hashtags are not handled transparently, but according to an algorithm that is opaque to outsiders.
Here are just a few examples of masterpieces “undesirable” on Instagram:
- The Renaissance painting «Death of Lucretia by Lucas Cranach the Elder
- A statue of Stig Blomberg standing in a public park in Stockholm
- A (nude) water nymph belonging to the Louvre Paris. clearly an allegory (and correspondingly hashtagged) entitled "The Source". Presumably, Meta expects water nymphs to wear a costume. This clearly affects artistic freedom, because certain things can no longer be presented in a meaningful way.
- The famous German expressionist August Macke etc,, etc., etc...
Cat videos seem to be expressly allowed...
...up and down.
The representatives of Meta (a big company) would certainly be strong enough to say: okay, that's 500 or 2000 years old, recognized art, we'll let that through. But instead they cower in fear and have implemented a piece of low-tech software that triggers whenever a bit of bare skin or a nipple is detected. These responsible person can easily be automated away, because they bring neither technical nor intellectual added value. They also gamble away their last assets, which are common sense and courage. They just don't have balls! Re probst (talk) 00:34, 4 June 2023 (UTC)

The first line seems to contain a language error: it should be not be "an photo" but "a photo". Could I be allowed to edit this? Davidlaport (talk) 22:37, 5 March 2024 (UTC)

- Instagram and X are not censored in Iran, that's not true,
- if you visit the site https://www.shora-gc.ir/ you will discover that there are links with these "sites" and even on the streets of Tehran and in the city's shopping centers it is possible to see the Instagram logo, so not there is no censorship.
- I hope that the censorship apparatus of this site will allow the publication of this message.

What clowns!
