Darko Ilić (Serbian Cyrillic: Дарко Илић; born 1 January 2004) is a German professional footballer who plays as a full-back for Canadian club Whitecaps FC 2 in MLS Next Pro.
Early life[edit]
Ilić played youth football with the Borussia Dortmund academy, Hombrucher SV , and Rot-Weiss Essen.[1] In July 2020, he moved to Fortuna Düsseldorf, joining the U17 squad.[2]
Club career[edit]
Ilić made his first professional bench appearance in a Regionalliga match for Fortuna Düsseldorf II against 1. FC Düren on 15 October 2022, but did not appear in the match.[3]
In May 2023, he signed a contract through 2024 with Canadian club Whitecaps FC 2 in MLS Next Pro.[1] He made his professional debut for Whitecaps FC 2 in a fixture against Austin FC II on 10 June 2023.[citation needed] He scored his first professional goal in a match against Colorado Rapids 2 on 5 August 2023.[4]

Ilić holds citizenship with both Germany and Serbia, thus meaning he is eligible to represent either internationally.[1]
