FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. (FTMC) (simplified Chinese: 一汽丰田汽车有限公司; traditional Chinese: 一汽豐田汽車有限公司; pinyin: Yīqì fēngtián qìchē yǒuxiàn gōngsī),[1] previously named Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. (TFTM) (Chinese: 天津一汽丰田汽车有限公司), is an automobile manufacturing company based in Xiqing District, Tianjin, China.[2] It is a manufacturing and supervising affiliate of the joint venture between Toyota Motor Company and First Automobile Works, and commonly known as FAW Toyota (simplified Chinese: 一汽丰田; traditional Chinese: 一汽豐田; pinyin: Yīqì fēngtián).[3]
Created in 2003,[4] it is an equally owned joint venture with Toyota. As of 2007, it has one passenger vehicle production base in the Xiqing District of Tianjin[5] and two in the Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Zone.[4] As of 2008, it continues to control three production bases and manufactures several Toyota products including the Corolla and Vios. As of 2008, it had an annual production capacity of 470,000.[6]
