The Delaware lethal injection machine This is the Executioner's "Control Module" of the Delawere Lethal Injection Machine formerly installed in the State Prison in Smyrna. The Lethal Injection Machine of this particular design, adopted by seventeen states, has two parts - a "Control Machine" and a "Delivery Module." This allowed the executioners to commernce the lethal injection fromma room separate from the inmate. The Control Module consists of two "On/Off" switches, only one of which actually triggers the chemicals to flow to the Delivery Module. Therefore, the two Executioners assigned to push the buttons would not know which one of them actually started the administration of the lethal cocktail. Once the machine was activated, it delivered three drugs with saline flushes in between for ten seconds each, one minute apart from one another, to n intravenous line runnning from the delivery module to the prisoner's vein.
